The Enclave has been named the 2014 National Apartment Association (NAA) Community of the Year. The announcement was made at the NAA Awards Breakfast Celebration on Saturday, June 21 as part of the 2014 NAA Education Conference & Exposition in Denver.

The annual awards program recognizes the multifamily housing industry’s top communities, executives, employees and affiliate programs.

NAA President & CEO Doug Culkin, CAE, said, "The PARAGON awards commend the outstanding contributions of multifamily builders, professionals and affiliated associations. The Community of the Year represents the best of the best. By shining a light on this winning community, all members of our industry benefit."

Managed by Edward Rose & Sons, The Enclave is an urban-style community in Midlothian, Va. The community is distinguished by its unique location adjacent to the Midlothian Mines Park, a 9-acre park converted from a historic mining area that now offers a fishing lake, amphitheater and paved walking and cycling paths. The 254-unit community features eight custom-style floor plans.

All buildings are constructed with high-end exterior features, including cement board siding and wood plank balconies with vinyl-coated wood railings. Each of the 15 buildings offers two or four universally attached garages and climate-controlled interior hallways. With an eye on green living, all apartments have large, energy-efficient windows, as well as generous open-concept living spaces.

When residents want to socialize, the clubhouse offers an E-lounge coffee bar, group and alcove seating, two wood-burning fireplaces, a stocked library, a technology-ready conference room and a state-of-the-art cardio center. Outside, residents can enjoy a resort-style swimming pool with fountain jets and an aquatic gazebo, a sundeck with poolside Wi-Fi and onsite acreage set aside for wetlands and habitat preservation.

The Enclave was chosen among the communities that won category-specific PARAGON awards. It also won a PARAGON for Best Community, 5-20 Years (over 150 units).

A list of all winners and details about each will appear in the August 2014 issue of units Magazine.
