VECAT Partners with The Department of Labor at VACE

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

If you attended the Virginia Asphalt Conference & Expo on December 5-6, you might have seen the VECAT booth with its newest apprenticeship program partner, the Virginia Department of Labor (DOL). DOL administers the state’s Registered Apprenticeship program which helps Virginia-based companies combine on-the-job training and related classroom or online instruction in occupations that demand a high level of skill.

VECAT takes that base education and experience and, if desired by a student, helps propel him/her into Associate Degree programs and even advanced degrees. We are very excited to be paired with this organization and will continue to work with them to customize the VECAT apprenticeship program.  VECAT's goal - to better meet industry needs and to attract high quality, motivated applicants who will provide our member companies a ready supply of competent skilled workers.

For additional information on DOL’s Registered Apprenticeship program, to start the process of hiring an apprentice or starting a current employee in the program, contact Carter Iseman (VAA) at ciseman@vaasphalt.com or Shannon Crooks (DOL) at shannon.crooks@doli.virginia.gov.
