2017 Fall Asphalt Conference and Expo

In less than two week, the VAA Fall Asphalt Conference & Expo will be held on October 3-5 at the Richmond Marriott Downtown. This year’s conference has an added feature – an expo hall. Over 50 exhibitors from around the Commonwealth and the US will be displaying equipment and services related to the asphalt industry.

The Fall Conference will feature an expanded format starting at 10:00 am on October 3rd. Mr. C.J. Potts of Milestone Contractors, LP will be giving the keynote address – "Creating a Quality and Innovation Culture in the Asphalt Paving Industry." Along with the Keynote address, Secretary of Transportation Aubrey L. Layne, Jr. will be discussing the "Directions in Virginia Transportation." Secretary Layne will be followed by remarks from VDOT Commissioner Charlie Kilpatrick and Chief Deputy Commissioner Quintin Elliott. Ms. Jessie Yung – FHWA Virginia Division Acting Administrator, will cover the FHWA Programs and Initiatives. The end of day 1 will feature a panel discussion lead by VDOT Chief Engineer Garrett Moore. Chief Engineer Moore and the District Engineers will review the 2016 paving season and outline the plans for the 2017 contracts.

Day two of the Fall Conference will focus on the technical aspects of the asphalt industry. Presentations will cover a variety of topics from Work Zone Safety to VECAT and from the FHWA High Density Demonstration Project to 2017 Specification Changes. Attendees of Day 2 will be awarded continuing education credits upon request.
