VDOTU Asphalt MCS Self-Study Transitions to VECAT Asphalt MCS Online

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

If you are ready to take one of the Asphalt-Related MCS self-study courses this summer, please remember that as of June 1, these courses have been moved from VDOTU over to VECAT and are now available online via VECAT‘s program partner, Germanna Community College.

Signing up for on-line classes is simple.  Visit the Germanna website at www.Germanna.edu to register and select the class you wish to take.  Once on the Germanna site, classes are located at Workforce Services-Courses & Registration-Manufacturing.  At your own time and pace, complete each module and its associated activities.  Once the class is finished, schedule a time and location to complete the final exam.  Exams are given in a proctored environment and therefore must be completed at any one of 23 community colleges located throughout the state.  There is no need to travel until you are ready to take the exam, and a VECAT Program Coordinator can help you identify the closest testing center to your home or office location. The test will take no more than one (1) hour for Asphalt Level I (Plant and Field), Slurry Seal and Surface Treatment courses, and three (3) hours for Asphalt Level II courses.

If you have additional questions about the online class process or testing procedures, contact Dave Laraway, VECAT Coordinator at 540-937-2902.

For all other questions, contact Carter Iseman, VAA Director of Training and Development at 804-288-3169.
