VECAT Is On The Move!

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

VECAT recently hosted a booth at VDOT’s Garver Leadership Conference on July 26 -27 at the Koger Center in Richmond.  This conference was attended by VDOT’s top leaders and included plenary sessions and keynote speakers on various aspects of the Department’s business and leadership. Our VECAT booth was staffed by Carter Iseman, VAA Director of Training & Development and Dave Laraway, VECAT Coordinator at Germanna CC.

VECAT will again be on the road attending the FDR Symposium on October 24-25 at the Westin Hotel.  October and November will also find VECAT attending Transportation Careers Fairs in Hampton Roads and Manassas to showcase our program to area High School Students. If you have any projects underway in either of these two geographic locations and would like to help staff the booth as an industry representative, please contact Carter Iseman at (804) 288-3169.

Development of new program courses is well underway with the kick-off of two new technology working groups focused on Full-Depth Reclamation, Cold Asphalt Plant and Cold Asphalt Field.  These courses will be available in both classroom and online formats in the Spring of 2017.

The following courses are available online through Germanna NOW if you have employees who need to be certified prior to the next round of 2017 classroom courses.

Asphalt Plant Level I     •Asphalt Field Level II
Asphalt Plant Level II    •Slurry Surfacing

Fun Fact: After two months of operation, nearly 60 students have signed up for one or more of the six certifications available through VECAT!
