CREF Reveals New Research Project at COMPOST2026

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The COMPOST2026 conference was meaningful in so many ways, but one of the highlights for CREF was the strong show of support for our 2026 research project: Compost-Based Water Conservation Solutions. Now, we're looking to you to keep the momentum going!

This topic was selected with input from YOU, the composting community. Growing pressures from drought, rising water costs, and declining soil performance are being felt worldwide. While compost is widely recognized for improving soil health, decision-makers still lack clear, standardized application guidance and expected water and economic benefits. This project will close that gap by translating soil science and economic data into practical tools that can be confidently adopted and scaled. You can learn more about the project goals here.

Many donors stood up during the closing ceremony and pledged their support. If you were among those early supporters, thank you.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to contribute, we invite you to join us. Every donation helps move this critical work forward to serve compost producers, end users, and our planet's health.
