The US Composting Council (USCC)’s new executive board, which is seated on January 1, 2026, includes a change of leadership, with Chris Seney, of Republic Services, taking the helm as the organization’s new president. He follows Jennifer Trent of the Iowa Waste Reduction Center, who served two terms as president.

The other members of the Executive Committee include:

Travis Bahnsen of A1 Organics of Colorado, continuing in his role as Vice President. Travis has served on the Board since 2023.

Samantha Winkle of Athens Services will be continuing her role as Treasurer. Samantha will be in her sixth year serving on the Board of Directors.

Lorrie Rossiter of ERTH Products Inc. will be newly stepping into the Secretary role, in which Seney served the previous year. Lorrie will begin her fourth year in her current board service and has served as president of USCC previously.

The Executive Committee leads the Board of Directors, creating a cohesive team to guide the USCC in its pursuit of advancing the future of composting in the United States. “I’m honored to lead the USCC at a time when composting and organics recycling, which are critical to building a circular economy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, are expanding so rapidly,” said Seney. “Together, we will continue to advocate for policies and practices that expand composting infrastructure nationwide.”

Outgoing president Jennifer Trent has been on the board since 2020. “My time as President of the USCC over the last two years has brought about incredible changes,” says Trent, “from saying goodbye to Frank Franciosi to hiring Linda Norris Waldt as the new Executive Director, and working towards a fresh strategic plan that supports the colossal growth of the compost industry. Going forward, the newly elected Executive Committee encompasses intelligence, hard work, and problem-solving skills that will help bolster the work of the BOD.” Trent will continue to serve on the USCC Board of Directors and will hold the position of Past President for the 2026 term.

The new members of the Executive Committee, alongside the re-elected members, will be formally introduced during the USCC Annual Member Meeting at COMPOST2026 in Sacramento, scheduled for 4:45 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, February 2, 2026. This event will provide an opportunity for USCC Members to meet the leaders shaping the future of the composting industry.
