From October 8-10, the Texas Composting Council (TXCC) hosted its annual Summit in Katy, Texas. The event included presentations from composting professionals from across Texas and beyond, classroom trainings, live equipment demonstrations, and, of course, networking!

The event was attended by over 80 members of the Texas composting industry, coming from 14 counties across Texas, and the Trade Show featured 22 exhibitors. Attendance doubled from the 2024 TXCC Summit, and exhibitor participation increased by 35 percent!

The US Composting Council's Compost Market Manager—and native Texan—Sam Dixon also attended the Summit, and presented about the Seal of Testing Assurance (STA) program during the session on compost marketing. Sam spoke to attendees about making choices regarding feedstocks and end-use compost products based on the markets they intend to target.

Other session topics included compost fundamentals; new and emerging uses for compost; Texas Commission on Environmental Quality compliance and enforcement; PFAS issues; fire prevention on compost sites; and more!

Annual gatherings of USCC state chapters are a must-attend for chapter members. There is no better place to familiarize oneself with localized regulations, permitting and compliance processes, challenges, and successes, than at state chapter meetings.
