With seven interactive workshops, three tours, over 100 inspiring speakers, 100+ exhibitors on our trade show floor, and our equipment Demonstration Day, COMPOST2026 is the can't-miss event of the year for everyone in the composting industry!

Since 1991, the USCC’s annual conference and tradeshow has provided composting industry professionals with a place to gather, network, and share knowledge, bolstering the strength of our industry and generating innovative new paths for the future of composting in the United States.

Each year the conference has grown in attendees, speakers, and exhibitors to a record attendance of over 1,500 industry professionals at COMPOST2025 in Phoenix. This year, COMPOST2026 in Sacramento, California, promises to break the conference attendance record once again. “Sacramento has been a hub of activity for the compost industry in California as the State Capitol and source of groundbreaking legislation and policy that make the state the leader in compost industry infrastructure development,” said Linda Norris-Waldt, Executive Director. "Being here for our 35th annual conference will help our members and industry allies from across the country to understand the issues that have driven this frontline state in compost industry development.” This year’s conference theme, The Golden State of Composting, honors our host state while celebrating the strength of our industry and how far it has come in the last 35 years.

 An unprecedented number of presentation abstracts were received by the USCC. This conference program promises to be the most robust and diverse program to date, boasting speakers from all across the composting industry and beyond. “The COMPOST2026 program is more than a schedule,” says Teri Sorg-McManamon, USCC Director of Professional Development, “it’s a blueprint for connection, curiosity, and change within our industry. We’re thrilled to unveil the conversations and trends that will take place in Sacramento.” The full program will be released soon.

USCC is excited to provide thought leadership on the emerging business challenges facing the compost industry, highlighted by this year's keynote speaker, Chris Dyer. A celebrated speaker for over 15 years, Chris specializes in workplace culture as a key driver of recruitment and retention. As a CEO, his leadership has earned his companies recognition as top workplaces and a spot on Inc. Magazine's list of fastest-growing companies five times. In the next five years, USCC members—and the compost industry at large—will face a significant employee shortage, similar to other sectors that rely on frontline manufacturing workers. Chris’s insights and strategies will empower our industry to attract and retain top talent to meet this challenge head-on.

COMPOST2026 will also offer additional pre-conference programming. Limited seats will be available for seven workshops, as well as a full-day facility tour of three local composting and food waste processing operations in Sacramento County, CA.
