We are thrilled to highlight Khila Pecoraro as June’s YP of the Month

Khila currently works for Cornell Cooperative Extension as a Recycling and Composting Educator.

Khila first learned about composting throughout her undergraduate studies but her interest took off when Khlia was studying for my Master's degree at Syracuse University. There, Khila was a Sustainable Materials Management Steward through an amazing program at the Institute for Sustainability Engagement. Khila felt so lucky when she was hired as the Recycling and Composting Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schenectady County. Now, Khila runs a community compost project and teaches composting to kids and adults throughout the county!

Khila joined USCC in 2024 in the YP Education Committee. Khila learned so much from her colleagues in that group and was empowered to put on a webinar on school composting. This year, Khila will be a co-chair for the Education Committee with Naomi Franklin.

Congratulations to Khila for her outstanding contributions to the composting industry and her dedication to the YP Group as the new co-chair of the Education Committee!
