The US Composting Council invites professionals in compost manufacturing, organics recycling, research, education, and related fields to submit presentation proposals for COMPOST2026, the premier in-person industry conference and trade show.
The conference program includes two main types of presentations: Concurrent Sessions and the CREF Research Track. Concurrent Sessions consist of 90-minute blocks made up of individual 20-minute presentations grouped around a common theme. These sessions are ideal for sharing best practices, case studies, how-tos, emerging trends, technologies, advocacy insights, marketing approaches, and new perspectives. The CREF Research Track, developed by the Compost Research & Education Foundation, is reserved for presentations that focus on scientific findings and research. These proposals are reviewed for scientific validity by members of the CREF Board.
Speakers may submit up to two abstracts; however, it is uncommon for the same individual to be selected for two presentations. Abstracts must be submitted directly by the presenter and not by an assistant or third party, to ensure clarity, accuracy, and intent. Each abstract should be clear and concise, between 100 and 300 words, and include a descriptive title, background and motivation, well-defined objectives, methodology, key results, and compelling conclusions.
Proposals should relate directly to compost collection, manufacturing, marketing, or use, and must present content of general value to the industry rather than promoting specific products or services. Submissions will be evaluated by a review committee based on content, clarity, and format. While USCC membership is not required, it will be considered as a factor during the review process.
COMPOST2026 provides an outstanding platform for professional exposure. The event attracts more than 1,500 attendees, offering unparalleled networking opportunities. Selected speakers receive a 50% discount on registration and gain lasting visibility through the inclusion of their presentation (PowerPoint and audio) in Compost University™.
In addition to regular sessions, the USCC is accepting proposals for Pre-Conference Workshops. These full- or half-day sessions will be held the day before the conference opens and cover topics related to compost manufacturing, collection, diversion, and end uses. Workshop proposals should not be submitted through the abstract portal but sent via email to Teri Sorg-McManamon at tsmcmanamon@compostingcouncil.org. Proposals must include the workshop title, instructor bios, session duration, a summary of topics covered, agenda, teaching methods, expected learning outcomes, and a list of where the workshop has been taught previously. While the USCC does not pay for workshop development or travel, instructors receive complimentary conference registration and a share of net revenue with a guaranteed minimum.
The deadline to submit all abstracts is July 8, 2025. This deadline is firm, and no exceptions will be made.
