EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program Guidance Covers Waste & Materials Management

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The Climate Pollution Reduction Grants is one of the EPA’s big new Inflation Reduction Act funding opportunities of almost $5B. The grants include non-competitive "planning grants” for staffing up and initial planning, and then provide large competitive funds to implement those plans with eligible local governments. However, the work must relate to the initial planning grant to develop or expand the plans.

In the recently released Program Guidance, the EPA encourages eligible entities to develop (or, if applicable, revise their existing) climate plans consistent with the following programmatic priorities:

Adopt and implement ambitious policies and programs to reduce GHG emissions and accelerate decarbonization across multiple important sectors (e.g., industry, electricity generation, transportation, commercial and residential buildings, agriculture/natural and working lands and waste and materials management).
