Last week, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published in the Federal Register two notices and a request for comment pertaining to a proposed pilot program to allow persons ages 18-21 with military driving experience to operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce.

While the tools are the same, the tactics required to market to these two critical markets are quite different.

Long Island companies that depend on trucks to ship their products to stores and warehouses, bring in raw materials for production and other tasks have struggled to contend with the shortage of truckers.

Werner Enterprises has received the 2018 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
The Freedom Award is the highest recognition awarded by the Department of Defense (DoD) to employers for their support of National Guard and Reserve members. Werner was the only carrier selected among the 15 winners from 2,350 nominations.
