Technovations Recap

The orange sun was setting in the blue sky last Tuesday, casting amber shadows on the mountains and desert, while more than 200 attendees and exhibitors at the first annual Technovations event in Tucson said goodbye at the evening reception, held on the Meecha Lawn of the J.W. Marriott Star Pass Resort.

It was the bittersweet end of two intimate days of learning, listening, sharing and networking – the first of its kind for 3PLs.

And reviewers are giving it four stars. ****

“A lot of 3PL or transportation conferences paint such broad strokes when it comes to technology. TIA really narrowed the focus at Technovations. In an industry that is slow to adopt new technologies, TIA is changing the narrative. I'm already looking forward to next year's conference,” said Steve Swain, Business Technology Manager for Pyramid Transport.

Said Senior News Editor Ben Ames, who covered the event for DC Velocity, “As far as describing the show, I would say it was worth attending and I would return again – the conference differed from many of the mega-shows because it hosted a collection of senior logistics industry execs, giving presentations in personal pitches to a small ballroom, and gathered in a personal setting where it was easy to meet for follow up questions and conversations about industry trends. I’m looking forward to next year.”

“I thought the conference was great,” agreed Mark Allen, IT Director for Jear Logistics. “Having an opportunity to not only connect with industry-specific vendors, but to also connect with peers and discuss technology. We all have a lot we can gain from sharing ideas, technology decisions, lessons learned, without giving away that “secret sauce” that makes us unique. I would certainly recommend for next year."
