TIA Publishes Fact Sheet on New State and Federal Online Privacy Laws

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

A new law in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2020 and will give citizens far more control over their personal data that companies in the state have collected. In addition, federal legislation, the Online Privacy Act, has been introduced that would similarly place new requirements and limits on companies that collect and store users’ personal data.

To help 3PLs prepare for the new California law and learn more about what Congress may consider with the Online Privacy Act, TIA has published a new fact sheet describing what the laws do, who must comply, and what they could mean for 3PLs. Click here to view the fact sheet.

TIA will continue to monitor these and other online privacy laws and keep members informed. If you have any questions, please contact TIA Advocacy at advocacy@tianet.org or 703.299.5700.
