Now Is the Time to Pass the National Hiring Standard

As the current legislative session drags through the summer, it’s necessary to continue pressuring members of Congress to support the National Hiring Standard provision included in the House of Representatives’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Bill and push the U.S. Senate to act on it. This is the closest TIA has been to achieving its goal of having this important standard put into law.

Last month at the TIA 3PL Policy Forum, TIA had almost 100 TIA members in Washington, D.C. advocating for this issue on behalf of their businesses and the 3PL industry. TIA members met with more than 150 members of Congress and their staffs. Although the Policy Forum was a huge success, 100 TIA members is only 6 percent of the entire TIA membership.

TIA will be ramping up its grassroots efforts after the Fourth of July holiday. Each TIA member will be contacted and encouraged to call their respective U.S. Senator and Representative to ask that they vote in favor of the FAA bill that maintains the National Hiring Standard provision. TIA will provide more details in the coming days.

Additionally, TIA desperately needs your financial support of TIAPAC as well. TIAPAC is the most valuable tool available that allows the Association to build relationships with members of Congress and gain their support for important legislation like the National Hiring Standard.

It cannot be stressed enough how important the National Hiring Standard is to improving highway safety and providing protection to your business. Every 3PL and shipper in the nation has a target on its back whenever they select a motor carrier to haul their freight. The National Hiring Standard eliminates that target while drastically improving highway safety.

Please consider supporting TIAPAC today. To donate, simply text TIAPAC to 243725. Your support is greatly appreciated.
