Print this Article | Send to Colleague

TIA’s Environmental and Hazmat Subcommittee is looking for new members of the Association to join this important subcommittee. Are you an in-house hazardous materials or environmental expert? Are you looking to learn more about moving hazardous materials or the current regulatory environment of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA)? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you should consider joining the Subcommittee.

“The Environmental and Hazmat Subcommittee is the starting ground for any and all issues pertaining to FMCSA and PHMSA regulations and their impact on TIA members, our shippers and our carriers. On a monthly basis, the Committee meets by conference call to discuss current issues, changes in legislation and general education. We work to provide support to many of the other TIA committees as well as organize programming for the entire TIA membership. By joining this Subcommittee, you are taking the first step in keeping your company informed and sharing the knowledge with those members in need,” said Chairman Wayne Levinson, CTB, President of Bulk Fr8, LLC.

Since 2013, the Subcommittee has been very active and successful in achieving several goals. Here are a sampling of the accomplishments of the Subcommittee to date.

2013

  • Successfully removed 3PL liability from California Air Resources Board (CARB) proposed idling regulation

2014

  • Successfully worked with CARB to develop guidelines and “best practices” for 3PLs regarding the TRU ATCM, GHG Regulation, and Truck & Bus Regulation

2015
