Hurricane Maria caused widespread devastation in September 2017, particularly across Puerto Rico. Estes Express Lines responded to the call from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to supply personnel, equipment and logistical support.

Approximately 100 Estes employees have served onsite for Puerto Rico’s recovery efforts, handling thousands of dispatches across the island. But their life-changing efforts have involved much more than delivering vital supplies from FEMA warehouses. In their off-duty time, many volunteered their time and skills in the communities of Bayamón, Arecibo and Ponce. An Estes team at a Bayamón facility repaired and replaced roofs, and built picnic tables and a gazebo. Other projects included fence repair and fallen-tree clean-up. Estes volunteers also purchased several bicycles for children to replace those that were beyond repair.
