RMCMI-TMRA 2019 Joint Meeting

The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute (RMCMI) and Texas Mining and Reclamation Association (TMRA) held another successful joint meeting April 24-26 at Hideaway, Texas. We were pleased to host almost 100 people to enjoy networking with their colleagues, listen to excellent speakers, and provide support for the industry. This meeting also included a golf tournament with approximately 50 players.

The meeting began with a dinner featuring Commissioner Wayne Christian, Railroad Commission of Texas, who gave an impassioned talk about the importance of fossil fuels to the economy and security of Texas and the nation.

Mike Nasi, Jackson Walker, LLP, updated us on market and regulatory matters affecting the industry. Mike is always a favorite of our group because he provides the most up to date information. In addition, he has worked with Life:Powered to develop educational videos. RMCMI and TMRA helped to fund a few of these videos, and they are available on the Life:Powered website.

Josh McAfee, Environmental Manager, with North American Coal’s Sabine Mine gave an overview of their Texas and National award-winning reclamation success.

TMRA also once again held a Support Member event which gives members an opportunity to interact with our Owner/Operator mining companies in attendance. Our next big opportunity for this one-on-one interaction will be at this year’s TMRA Annual Meeting to be held in Galveston, Texas. This one should not be missed!

RMCMI is pleased to partner with TMRA on this meeting, and we encourage participation in all efforts by both organizations. RMCMI will hold its Annual Meeting this summer in Vail, Colorado June 23-25. We invite you to join us for an excellent networking and educational opportunity.
