Executive Director's Message: Your Vote and Your Voice Matter!

2020 has been a “challenging” year in many ways for our Industries and, for sure, our Families. As challenging as it has been it is, in my opinion, more important than ever to get involved and to let your voice be heard. It does make a difference. VOTING is both a Right and a Privilege! Now, more than ever and regardless of your political views and position, voting is also your DUTY. It is something that you should cherish and use.

All I ask is that you use your privilege, consider the issues and where the candidates stand, and ASK EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO VOTE! If you are comfortable doing so, let them know where issues matter to your family and your business.

I am very troubled by the divisiveness that seems so rampant between and among the major Political Parties. Different views and different approaches, reasonably laid out, can lead to healthy discourse. My whole life, certainly my whole adult life as an attorney, has been filled with taking positions, arguing what I believed to be the facts and the law, then working within our legal and administrative systems as decisions were made. While most, thankfully, went the way I argued, all certainly did not. I have never believed that the way to move positively forward was to condemn, hate, lie or take actions outside of the law.

Along with your vote, other important ways your VOICE Matters every single day are through:

• Volunteering in your Community and/or Donating to those in need
• Mentoring and Teaching/Educating on the benefits of our industries and our Environmental Stewardship
• Staying informed on Industry issues and sharing your informed/fact-based knowledge with others using  
   Community organizations, Social Media, Outreach to Agency and Legislative Leaders
• Continuing to set the GREAT Example our TMRA Members are known for!
 

Let’s be Proactive and Positive, knowing that we live in the Great State of Texas and in the United States of America, without a doubt the very best Country in the World! Take care, Stay Safe & Well AND VOTE!
