Chairman’s Message By Jeff Mason: Value of TMRA is Being Part of the Team

Occasionally, I’m asked… “What value does TMRA bring to our industry?” It’s a great question since being a part of this group is an investment – an investment of time, money and other resources. I firmly believe the value of TMRA is found within the group itself.

Are you familiar with the phrase “Two heads and better than one”? How about “There is no ‘I’ in Team”? Or even “It takes a village to raise a child”? For me, these speak to the importance and necessity of working together. We accomplish so much more as a team rather than individually.

Being a member of TMRA provides an opportunity to join with other owner/operator companies, support/service companies and individuals to collectively promote our mission. We endorse ideas that strengthen our industry as well as monitor and manage minor issues before they become major problems. We accomplish these goals through our system of committees – some of which provide overall leadership to the organization, educate our teachers, track and guide legislative actions and impact interpretations of rules and regulations. Of course, committees only function because of the individuals that serve. TMRA also teams with other organizations like Texas Aggregates and Concrete Association (TACA) and Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute (RMCMI) to leverage those relationships as well.

So, if you have wondered or if you are asked, the value of TMRA is the powerful voice that we as individuals have when we come together. I’ll encourage you again to consider joining our team or becoming more involved to help achieve our goals.

Jeff Mason
TMRA Chairman
