TMRA Government Affairs Quarterly Report

With less than a month before the 86th Texas Legislative Session ends, the TMRA Government Affairs Team continue to monitor and influence bills that impact our Members. With the pending end of the Session coming the statutory deadlines that can determine a bills’ fate are upon us.

With the start of the week of May 6th, the majority of bills introduced will die because of the following deadlines. May 6th is the last day for House Committees to report house bills. May 7th is the deadline for the House to distribute its last House Daily Calendar. May 9th is the last day for the House to consider House bills on 2nd reading. Senate bills deadlines will take place over the next two weeks.

TMRA has filed support/opposition affidavits on numerous bills this Session with most probably not advancing because of the above deadlines. As we enter the last few weeks of Session TMRA will closely monitor and act on the progress of active bills like SB 978 by Hughes (Support), HB 2498 by Paddie (Support), and HB 4089 by Blanco (Oppose). No bills adverse to TMRA Members has advanced.

Lastly, our TMRA Team is working feverishly to raise dollars for our end of Session Sine Die party at The Long Center on May 27th. We thank the TMRA members’ who have already committed and encourage those who have not to agree to participate. Remember this is TMRA’s signature event with premium name recognition and we need EVERYONE onboard supporting it! Sponsorships are still available, and we welcome you to join us!
