Outstanding Service by Municipal Power Providers Recognized

Each year at TMEPA's Annual Meeting, the best in public power in Tennessee are honored and recognized. The following were recognized for their service, commitment, and dedication.

Presented each year to a General Manager/CEO, the Outstanding Service Award is a very special award which recognizes that single individual who manifests all the ideals of a Public Power Municipal Manager in Tennessee. Only one award is given each year, and it is truly an outstanding honor. This year's honoree is Darrell Gillespie of Dickson Electric System.

A unique award that is presented to a municipal system that demonstrates significant service to the community and enriches the prestige of public power in the state of Tennessee. The systems recognized this year: 

Small System - Erwin Utilities


Medium System - Paris Board of Public Utilities


Large System - Sevier County Electric System

The Power of Excellence Award allows the CEO of a municipal system to nominate Senior Staff, General Counsel of their system, Lobbyists, Political representatives and even community leaders to be recognized for their commitment to Public Power and/or their community. This year's recipients were Carlos Smith of Miller Martin and Mike Vinson, who retired after fourteen years at the helm of TMEPA.
