TMEPA Hires Brian Solsbee as Executive Director/CEO

TMEPA has hired Brian Solsbee as its new Executive Director/CEO. Brian joined the organization June 12 to work alongside current Executive Director Mike Vinson, who is set to retire at the end of July.  Brian's extensive experience with public power in the valley at municipal utilities and TVA have provided him the knowledge and background necessary to lead our organization into the future.
 
Brian has spent the last four years at TVA working in transmission line maintenance and most recently leading the demand response programs in EnergyRight® Solutions.  Prior to joining TVA, Brian was the General Manager at Etowah Utilities for seven years, which included electric, natural gas, water, and wastewater.  During this tenure, he also held several key leadership positions in several distributor organizations, including President of the Southeast District Power Distributor Association and Treasurer and President Elect of the TMEPA Board of Directors.  He also has experience as a project manager for Knoxville Utilities Board and Johnson Controls, Inc. working on a wide array of projects and served in the US Air Force working as an engineer in construction management and as an instructor at Officer Training School.   He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and also obtained a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee.  He also holds a Professional Engineer’s license in the State of Tennessee.    
 
He has been married for 20 years to Darla and they have two children, Brandon and Connor.  He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, running, and watching the Vols.
