Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University The Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University is conducting a new search for multiple Lecturers, or Assistant or Associate Instructional Professors, non-Tenure Track. The Department is seeking new teaching professionals who are interested in a full time academic career in teaching and service in construction methods and materials; building architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems; estimating; scheduling; project controls; and the technology involved with these subject areas including building information modeling (BIM).
 
D Healthcare Daily According to U.S. News and World Report, Texas counts 10 of the nation’s 189 most connected hospitals for electronic health records. And of those, a whopping eight are in North Texas.
 
Carrie Feibel, Houston Public Media The CDC has designated 55 hospitals nationwide as future "Ebola treatment centers." Two of them are in Texas: UTMB in Galveston and Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in Houston. TCH has built an entirely new unit, an 8-bed biocontainment wing at its facility in Katy.

ASHE Update
American Society for Healthcare Engineering The Energy to Care benchmarking and awards program run by ASHE reached an important milestone recently when the 1,000th facility joined the free program. Since 2009, hospitals participating in the program have tracked more than $67 million in energy savings.
 
American Society for Healthcare Engineering ASHE is now accepting proposals from those who want to present sessions at the 53rd ASHE Annual Conference in Denver July 10-13, 2016. All abstracts must be submitted to ASHE by Oct. 31. Join the roster of prestigious speakers, and submit your session abstract before the deadline.
 
American Society for Healthcare Engineering ASHE is working with several other organizations to address issues related to temperature, humidity, and ventilation requirements for hospital operating rooms and sterile processing departments.
 
American Society for Healthcare Engineering ASHE has posted additional resources on its Focus on Compliance website to help round out information on managing utility systems. ASHE and the Joint Commission are working together to provide compliance resources on a variety of Joint Commission requirements, starting with EC.02.05.01, utility systems.

The part that stands out goes something like this, "In case of a loss of cabin pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the panel above your seat. Reach up, grab the mask fully extending the plastic tubing, place the mask over your nose and mouth and breathe normally." What if we actually have to use the masks?

Jamie Morgan, Health Facilities Management Although the proposal period is now closed, the public can still review proposals to two Facility Guidelines Institute Guidelines: The Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals and Outpatient Facilities and the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Residential Health, Care and Support Facilities until Oct. 26, with the option to add opinions to either strongly support or disagree with what is being proposed based on evidence from the field.
