Member Spotlight

The Membership Committee's mission is to recognize and get to know our current members better. The depth of knowledge within this group is something that we should all be proud of. As a committee, we feel that we can all learn something from each other, but that this can only be done if we share a little bit about ourselves. In an effort to get to know each other better, we have created the "Member Spotlight" where a TAHFM member will be spotlighted through our monthly TAHFM Pulse Newsletter. This is our chance to highlight you and your success to others in this industry. We are proud of our members and would be honored if you would participate.

If you are interested in participating in the TAHFM Member Spotlight, please fill out this interest form.

Certifications:
I'm currently a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional ( CHSP #2873 ) and gained my certification back in 2010. Systems Maintenance Administration (SMA) in 1996 Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) in 1996. I'm seeking to gain my Senior ASHE (SASHE) designation next year and eventually my Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM).

How has TAHFM/ASHE contributed to your career?
TAHFM and ASHE contributed to my career with the training and education that both organizations offer, especially in the code compliance section of our responsibilities. Also, the networking with good people we have met and are going to meet along the way.

Background in the field of healthcare facilities
In our family, either you are in the medical fields or in engineering. So, I have both. I took nursing for a couple of years and found out that is not for me, so I started pursuing facilities management under Business Administration.

Personal Tidbit
I love my family. I serve as an Extra Ordinary Minister and an Acolyte for our Catholic church. I love to fish and play golf.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Every day is a different set of challenges in healthcare. It's never dull moment, but when we create a program that caters toward patients/staff safety and satisfaction, I enjoy it. Seeing our patients and staff happy/safe is what makes our day. We choose healthcare because we want to make a difference on our patients/staff lives.

What are your plans for future growth?
I would like to expand to a bigger role within our corporation where I can share my knowledge and expertise.
