Bilkent University’s Department of Foreign Languages is hiring English Language Instructors to teach in its English programs. Instructors will work with students preparing for entry into academic programs or enrolled in undergraduate content-based English courses. Positions are non-tenure track, offered on an initial two-year contract with annual renewal by mutual agreement. The employer will be recruiting at the 2026 TESOL Convention in Salt Lake City (Booth 403).

TESOL Press is now accepting proposals for two new titles in the No-Prep Activity Cards for English Language Teaching series: Math and Science. We are seeking one author for each deck to develop a complete set of 100 classroom-ready, low-prep activities designed for elementary multilingual learners of English. These decks will integrate language development with content-based instruction, supporting meaningful learning through hands-on, visual, and real-world applications. Authors will receive royalties. Proposals are due 31 January 2026.

Play is vital for young children’s social, cognitive, and language development, yet pressures such as increased screen time and academic demands have reduced its presence in classrooms. Teachers recognize the importance of play but struggle to implement it effectively due to these constraints. Observational assessments showed lower-quality play environments and linked limited playtime with more challenging behaviors, underscoring the need for stronger support for play-based learning.

Findings showed that PBC effectively strengthened coach–teacher collaboration, enhanced teachers’ instructional skills, and improved inclusive biliteracy practices. As teachers applied new knowledge and changed their classroom behaviors, student engagement increased, suggesting PBC is a valuable professional development approach for early childhood educators. AI-powered translation tools can now enable people in different countries to understand each other instantly, but they remain limited to transactional and experimental uses. While helpful for basic communication, they cannot replace the deeper benefits that come from learning another language. Scholars in linguistics and language learning argue that multilingualism fosters meaningful connection, cultural understanding, and personal transformation in ways AI cannot replicate.
