Texas Asphalt Pavement Association

Up Front

Thank you to all the TXAPA members and our partners in quality at the Texas Department of Transportation for making the 47th Annual Meeting of the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association a huge success. We learned a lot, spent a fun-filled week with colleagues and friends, and raised a whopping $635,000 to support the TXAPA Scholarship Program! Special thanks to our friend Mr. Pat Green for the amazing show and helping us reach our fundraising goals. The future looks bright for the asphalt pavement industry in the great state of Texas!

Construction job sites always impose general risks to the health and well-being of workers. Taking all safety precautions seriously, and proactively implementing measures to mitigate them is extremely important. With autumn upon us and winter right behind, there are a few additional construction safety concerns to consider in keeping workers safe.

You may have seen the recent article submitted to Texas Asphalt Magazine by Longview Asphalt detailing their project US 59 in Harrison County. If you haven’t, I urge you to check it out.

We want to feature other great projects, so we are calling on our members for submissions

Do you have a recent project you are especially proud of? Send us the following details:

  1. What is the size of the project?

  2. When was it built?

  3. What are some unique attributes of the project that readers will find interesting? (For example, is it a test section, does it utilize new technology, is it replacing a road constructed of another material, is it a special project such as a racetrack or runway?)

  4. Pictures! High-resolution images of the project are a must.

If your project is selected, we will ask for a write-up about the project (can be brief or more in-depth, like this example).

You may consider including the following:
