The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association is proud to announce its partnership with Women of Asphalt, a national coalition supporting women in all aspects of the asphalt industry through mentoring, education, and advocacy, and by encouraging women to seek careers in the asphalt industry. As I reflected on the many challenges that I have experienced on hot mix projects, a common theme arose. The solutions were typically related to relying on basic practices that serve as the foundation of a great paving project. I did not always look to those basic practices first—and that decision usually resulted in wasting time looking for a smoking gun that did not exist.
