In the spirit of working together to successfully deliver projects, TxDOT, TXAPA, and AGC of Texas convened the Seal Coat Advisory Task Force to develop best practices for seal coat projects. TXAPA member Kevin King of Missouri Petroleum Products, Co., LLC is chairman of both the Task Force and TXAPA's Seal Coat Steering Committee.

In a recent memo, TxDOT's Construction Division Director Gina Gallegos, P.E. and Maintenance Division Director Dan Stacks, P.E. recommend that all contractors working on seal coat projects read Chapter Six of the Seal Coat and Surface Treatment Manual which covers pre-sealcoat activities. In addition, TXAPA President Albert Schlather has recommended Chapter Three, which covers materials selection, planning, and preparation.

You can find the Seal Coat and Surface Treatment Manual as well as a pre-construction agenda and the Seal Coat Inspection and Training Manual at the link below.
