The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA) are hosting five one-day seminars that will demonstrate best practices on safety, planning, milling, paving and compaction for asphalt pavements. The seminars are intended for industry partners, city, county and consulting engineers who are interested in learning best practices by industry experts on building quality asphalt pavements. The Texas Department of Transportation and the Hot Mix Asphalt Center presents Quality Control/Quality Assurance Technicians an award for their efforts to achieve excellence in the performance of their assigned duties.

This is an annual program to award achievement in Hot Mix & Soils materials and Testing by HMAC Certified Technicians. QC/QA technicians are an invaluable part of our industry. Good quality begins with the technician and good technicians need to be recognized. This program will honor those who strive to be better than the rest and to those who dedicate their career to helping the industry be the best it can be. One technician will be chosen from each level of certification, (1A, 1B, Level 2).

TXAPA held its annual 2015 Strategic Planning Session February 18-20 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines in Cedar Creek, Texas. This meeting is for the Board of Directors, Committee Chairmen and Past Presidents. The purpose of this meeting is to establish priorities and goals for the association. This meeting was very successful and focused on TXAPA committees.

To have a successful QC/QA program, we need to recognize and understand how the system works. When QC/QA test results are used in the acceptance decision, testing disputes arising between TxDOT, or its designated agents, and the contractor shall be resolved in a reliable, unbiased manner by referee testing or evaluation performed by the Construction Division, Materials & Pavements Section (CST/M&P) central laboratory.

The Hot Mix Asphalt Center (HMAC) has always had a policy of "pre-payment" for all asphalt and soils classes. At this time, there are waiting lists for all classes and, therefore, we cannot have anyone scheduled in a class that has not prepaid. The HMAC accepts all major credit cards as payment.
