If you weren't able to make it to our Workforce Development Symposium in December, then you missed one heck of a great panel discussion. Luiza Barros, QC Manager for Texas Materials – A CRH Company, and Women of Asphalt Education Subcommittee Chair, moderates the discussion among four asphalt industry veterans. Nominated to participate, our panelists operate heavy equipment, make critical decisions, and carry the weight of responsibility for quality outcomes. They are also women. Learn what it's like to be a woman in the field—the guts, the glory, and the very real opportunities for upward mobility and a secure future.

Use these tips when you walk, bike, or travel at night.
  1. Pedestrians
    • Be visible. Walk in well-lit areas.
    • Wear bright or reflective clothing. Be Seen. Be Safe.
    • Assume drivers cannot see you
  2. Bicyclists
    • Turn on your front white light and red taillight at night. Rear reflectors are also required.
    • Be visible. Chose well-lit routes.
    • Always wear a helmet. The brighter the better
  3. Motorists
    • Be alert. Pedestrians and bicyclists are not easily seen at night.
    • Avoid distractions while driving. Focus on the road.
    • Always stop on red and watch out for pedestrians before making a right turn.
