Up Front
On June 1, TXAPA’s HMAC Training & Certification launched HMAC Now, an online program allowing for remote certification. HMAC Now has started offering virtual classes for Level 1A Certification, Level 1B Training, Level 1B Certification, and SB102 Certification. In order to certify online, a technician must have access to the necessary equipment as specified in the test procedures being evaluated. Virtual certification will not replace in-person certifications, rather it will provide new options for those who meet the requirements. Online class registration is now open for both in-person and virtual classes.

TXAPA will continue to move the needle for quality in the coming decade by promoting a new concept in asphalt paving communication, a gathering of key personnel just prior to placement and compaction called the “All-Hands.” The All-Hands section of texasasphalt.org is packed with helpful resources and information.

What makes a project "award-winning?" Find out on Wednesday, June 10, from 1-2 PM as TXAPA's Chuck Fuller dissects, explains, and takes questions about the TXAPA Quality Asphalt Pavement Award evaluation forms.

EVALUATORS will benefit from this step-by-step walk-through of the evaluation form to better recognize and score an award-winning project.

NON-EVALUATORS will get the inside scoop about what evaluators are looking for, resulting in a clearer path to building an award-winning project.

Driving with a motorcycle near you isn’t like driving with other cars. Motorcycles are often smaller and harder to see, plus they don’t have the safeguards of metal framing, seatbelts, or airbags when it comes to protection from collision. That’s why drivers sharing the road with motorcycles need to be extra careful, so everyone arrives at their destination safely.

There are multiple opportunities to ensure proper asphalt mix temperature during production and placement. Performing a few relatively easy tasks is a simple way to produce mixes within the established temperature parameters.
