TxDOT-TXAPA Awards Committee Chair Glen Dvorak Takes Innovative Approach to Keep Program on Schedule

The TxDOT-TXAPA Awards Program almost suffered an insurmountable setback as a result of travel restrictions in place for TxDOT due to COVID-19. As TxDOT represents one-half of the evaluator teams, Chair Glen Dvorak had to innovate to make sure the program was able to meet its obligations to review the nominated projects while remaining objective. As a result, he sought the assistance of retired TxDOT personnel now working in the private sector. Without exception, each one responded with an enthusiastic "yes!"
Dvorak reports that the committee will be able to recoup any time lost with evaluations taking place in July and early August. The committee is set to meet and decide the award-winning projects on August 20 at TXAPA in Buda.
