Buda, Texas, June 6, 2019 The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association recently hosted an open house to introduce it's new office space and expanded campus to members and industry partners. The open house featured a fish fry with catfish and shrimp and a happy hour.

Past TXAPA President Albert Schlather, Hunter Industries, Ltd. was on hand with wife Beverly Schlather, also of Hunter Industries, Ltd. to kick off the festivities. Speaking to an audience of roughly 150, Schlather reminisced about the tremendous effort of the Association to craft a plan for both of it's properties at 149 and 219 Commercial Drive in Buda, Texas to better serve its members and industry partners.

Schlather, who was president for the majority of the construction phase, continued to be involved, working with current TXAPA President Bill Thomas, Angel Brothers Enterprises, to bring the project to a successful completion. The initiative began with the acquisition of the property adjacent to the Association's original building in 2017 under the leadership of then TXAPA President Robert Hall, R.K. Hall Construction, Ltd., who attended the open house with wife Kayla and daughter Katy.

Along with new office space for the Association, the expansion plan also called for an enhanced training and education facility. The HMAC (formerly known as the Hot Mix Asphalt Center) is now the sole occupant of the original property which has been completely remodeled to accommodate more students with updated, state-of-the-art labs and classrooms occupying more than 15,000 sq. feet.

The new office space features a large event hall where the Association plans to showcase equipment and host events such as the student engineering competition, the Asphalt Road-eo. TXAPA is the officially recognized home of the Road-eo which is conducted in partnership with the University of Texas.

In addition to the event hall there are two conference rooms, a large boardroom, and full kitchen, all of which are open to the Association's member-driven committees and industry partners to encourage community and collaboration for the advancement of the asphalt pavement industry in Texas.
