TXAPA Kicks Off 2013 With Annual Membership Meeting

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association began 2013 with its annual January Membership Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Austin, TX. More than 165 members and guest attended the meeting that featured comments from TxDOT Deputy Executive Director and Chief Engineer John Barton. During the meeting TXAPA also recognized Joe Moore, Moore Asphalt, of Tyler as a life member and installed the 2013 Officers and Board of Directors. 

Mr. Barton’s comments focused on safety and how each one of us can have an impact on making Texas roads safer. He stated that safety is a core value of TxDOT and that everyone should strive to improve our driving habits and awareness of hazards in order to reduce accidents and fatalities on our highways. In addition he spoke on the priorities of quality, smoothness, sustainability and cost effectiveness and how asphalt pavement is an integral part of those significant opportunities. 

During the day, meetings were held by the Associate Members, Major Associate Members and the Past Presidents’ Advisory Committee. The Board of Directors also met and elected Jeff Greene, American Materials, Stafford, as President Elect. The 2013 TXAPA Board of Directors and Officers include:
