NAPA: FHWA Sustainable Pavements Program Outlines Priorities

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

We would like to thank our partners at The National Asphalt Pavement Association for the following article:

Last week, the asphalt pavement industry was invited to listen in on FHWA's progress with its Sustainable Pavements Program. This multi-faceted program brings together stakeholders from the pavement industries, transportation agencies, and academic institutions. NAPA's Vice President for Environmental Affairs Dr. Howard Marks said, "Stakeholders across all disciplines see green practices being increasingly incorporated into pavement selection decision making." Asphalt's green attributes are well-recognized, but continued promotion of these sustainable attributes, such as RAP, RAS, WMA, and porous asphalt, and asphalt pavement's low carbon footprint, are needed as misperceptions still exist in the green construction market.
