September TxDOT’s Proposed Asphalt Pavement Specifications Update

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The new proposed Special Specifications to replace Items 340, 341/3224, 342, 344 and 346 have been approved by TxDOT’s Specification Committee on August 22, 2012 and are being submitted to the AGC for official comments. AGC will have 60 days to review and submit their comments to TxDOT. Once this time has elapsed, TxDOT will send the new Special Specifications to the districts and require them to be included in all future lettings. We expect for the new Special Specifications to take effect by the first of 2013.

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association will also receive a copy of the new Special Specifications simultaneously with the AGC. Once they are received, TXAPA will disseminate them to you. Please take the time to watch your inbox and take the time to review them.

It is anticipated that TXAPA, TxDOT and the AGC will schedule a round of seminars where we will go to all of the TxDOT Districts and present the new Special Specifications. We are tentatively planning to present these seminars in January, February and March of 2013. As time draws closer and all of the details are worked out, notices will be sent to you.

If you have any questions or comments, you may contact Kyle Swaner at (512) 312-2099 or kswaner@texasasphalt.org.
