Help NAPA Measure Warm-Mix, RAP, Ras Use

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

NAPA has been contracted by FHWA to conduct a survey of asphalt producers in the United States to measure 2011 production levels and the use of recycled materials on a state-by-state level. We need your help to ensure that industry use of hot-mix asphalt (HMA), warm-mix asphalt (WMA), reclaimed asphalt pavements (RAP), and recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) is accurately counted.

To participate in the survey, click here.  The survey must be completed by Aug. 20. It is suggested you print copy of the complete survey to make sure you have the requested data at hand. All information will be kept confidential. Results will only be reported on a state-by-state basis. Survey results will be shared with industry and agencies to help in the implementation of recycling and warm-mix technologies. This will help the industry when working with agencies and the public to promote asphalt pavements.

This survey follows up on the one conducted last year by NAPA for the 2009 and 2010 construction season (released as IS-138: Asphalt Pavement Mix Production Survey: 2009-2010). That survey helped document a 182 percent increase in WMA use from 2009 to 2010 and found that more than 99 percent of all RAP is recycled or reused.
