Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!!!!!

The TXAPA Marketing Committee is taking the lead on the production of a 50^th-Anniversary Texas Asphalt Pavement Association book. TXAPA is contracting with Emily Adams, TXAPA’s creative consultant and the owner of AltaCreative, to develop and produce the book in a coffee table format. The book will contain the history of TXAPA since 1962. Gary Corley’s efforts to date for the Texas Asphalt magazine will be the backbone of the book. To help support the history of the association, pictures are intended to be a significant portion of the book.

2012 marks the 50^th anniversary of the incorporation of the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association. As you may know, TXAPA has been working with our members since 1944 to enhance the quality, performance and usage of asphalt pavements in Texas. In 1962 TXAPA was recognized by the Texas Secretary of State and became incorporated. It is from this point, the 1962 incorporation, that the 50^th anniversary book will commence.

To help aid in the production of the 50^th anniversary book, Geno Carrier, Chairman of the TXAPA Marketing Committee, is asking TXAPA member companies to please look through their offices, company archives, etc. to find pictures from your company’s history. Any pictures you may have of your company operations, offices, plants, quarries, equipment, workers, etc. from the past 50 years would be a huge help in this undertaking.

Digital copies of your pictures would be extremely helpful. If you are not comfortable or do not know how to get a digital copy of your pictures and would be willing to loan them to TXAPA for the staff to make a digital copy that would be great. If you are unable to provide a digital copy that is not a problem. Copies of your pictures are what we truly need so a digital copy, while preferred, is not a must.

When you send in your pictures please let us know all of the usual: who, what, when and where associated with your photos. Any and all pictures not used will help TXAPA establish a pictorial archive of TXAPA’s history that we hope to build on in the future.

So once again the TXAPA Marketing Committee needs your company PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES!!! We would like to get your pictures as soon as possible—the sooner, the better. The goal is to have the 50^th anniversary TXAPA book completed by the 2012 TXAPA Annual Meeting which will take place at in September at the Horseshoe Bay Resort on Lake LBJ.
