ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING - JAN. 3, 2012

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association will be holding its Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel on Townlake. The address is 111 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas 78701.

The schedule will tentatively be:

ASSOCIATE MEMBER TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE, Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012

TOPIC 1
You have been reading and hearing a lot lately about the use of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) and recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) in asphalt paving products. RAP and RAS provide environmental, economic and engineering benefits when used in asphalt. All of this recent attention on RAP and RAS may have made some of us forget about the use of rubber in asphalt. For this reason TXAPA would like to invite you to come hear presentations on the environmental, economic and engineering benefits of rubber in asphalt by TXAPA member companies Cox Paving Company, Liberty Tire, Modified Asphalt Solutions, Rubber Asphalt Solutions and Wright Asphalt.

TOPIC 2
Calumet Specialty Products, L.P. now has a Trackless Tack coat NTQS-1HH emulsion made from hard pen asphalt. The product is made for a fast cure, leaving a non-tracking tack coat minutes after application while creating a superior bond between existing pavement and new layer pavement. Trackless Tack can also help reduce the amount of time spent on cleanup of paving equipment and vehicles. TXAPA would like to invite you to hear a representative from Calumet present the benefits, proper methods of application and appropriate practices for storage and handling of the material.

Immediately following the presentations, everyone is invited to stay for a delicious BBQ dinner which you can enjoy while networking with others in our industry.

There is no registration fee for the showcase and all interested parties are invited to attend; however, we will need an accurate count in order to accommodate everyone. We look forward to seeing you on Jan. 4 at 3 p.m.

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association will be holding the 2012 Mid-Year Meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Lake Tahoe, Nev. Our members had such a wonderful time in 2011 that we decided to go back and enjoy that nice cool weather in June.

The dates for the meeting are June 11-13, 2012. We have arranged to have a room block for the weekend before the meeting, June 8-10, for those of you who would like to arrive early. YOU MAY BEGIN MAKING YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW! The hotel does sell out rather quickly for the summer months.

The golf tournament will be held at the Championship Golf Course which is the larger course. Everyone had a wonderful time golfing at the Mountain Course last year so this year will be a real treat.
