Educational Toolkit Inserts, Continued

Last month I pointed out two APA-produced inserts. The first is entitled "Carbon Footprint: How Does Asphalt Stack Up?" The second was entitled "LCCAExpress Software." Both are very helpful when discussing our products and industry to locally elected officials, their staffs, and consulting engineering firms. This month I would like to point out another helpful APA-produced pamphlet simply entitled "America Rides on Us." While the title may seem simple enough the content in the paper is powerful. This paper explains that while 94% of the roads in America are surfaced with asphalt, tough economic times may be causing some owners to take a second look when it comes to pavement type selection.

"America Rides on Us" explains that the current crisis in funding will place an emphasis on pavement preservation, rehabilitation and maintenance over new construction. It explains that asphalt pavements promote the best state of good repair and provide the greatest economic competitiveness in the long term. Furthermore, asphalt is the most sustainable pavement and has a place in livable communities. "America Rides on Us" goes on to explain that high unemployment threatens to derail economic recovery and that investing in highways creates jobs. The paper concludes that asphalt is the right choice for America's future.
