The Texas Transportation Commission announced at its regular meeting on Thursday, August 25th, that they collectively elected John Barton, P.E., who has served for more than a quarter of a century in various positions with TxDOT, as the interim executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation. Mr. Amadeo Saenz, Jr., P.E., the current executive director, will be retiring at the end of August.

Russel Lenz, TxDOT’s Construction Division Director, has announced his retirement, effective August 31st, 2011. Ken Barnett, P.E. will serve as interim director, beginning September 1st. Mr. Lenz has served with TxDOT for more than thirty years.

Jeffrey Seiders Jr., P.E., Director of the Construction Division's Materials & Pavements Section has also announced his retirement, effective August 31st.
