TxDOT Regional Seal Coat Seminars

With the deployment of the new tier system and the implementation of the four recently created TxDOT Regions, TxDOT and the Members of the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association recognized the need to reach out and bring a seminar that focuses on the topics that affect you locally.

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association, working closely with Toribio Garza, P.E., director of maintenance of the Texas Department of Transportation, devoted numerous hours of hard work in developing the 2011 TxDOT Regional Seal Coat Seminars. This Seminar was created for that purpose.

The leading experts in Texas who devote their career to supplying and improving the Seal Coat Industry will present the Seminar. These are new presentations that you will find extremely beneficial and will undoubtedly enhance your Seal Coat operations.

As part of our 2011 TxAPA Seal Coat Seminar, not only will you have the opportunity to hear from the experts on Seal Coats and Surface Treatments from around the state, you will also have the ability to ask questions from a panel of experts assembled by TxDOT. This panel is comprised of TxDOT Regional, District wide, and area personnel who are directly responsible for specifying and managing the Seal Coat Program in the area where each Seminar will be held.

These Seminars are being fully sponsored by Members of the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association and will be conducted at NO COST to attendees. Lunch is being provided so it is imperative that you let us know if you will be attending or if you need to cancel.  The Seminars will be held from 10am until 3pm, and registration is still available at all locations.

10-10:15 Opening Remarks & Welcome 10:15-10:45 Pavement Preparation – Learn how to obtain a successful project by starting early and starting right by George Dozier, Wright Asphalt Products.

10:45-11:15 Seal Coat Aggregates – There are many different types and sizes of aggregates. Find out what and why you should use by Mike Haas, Capital Aggregates.

11:15-12 Asphalt & Emulsions – Not all asphalts and emulsions are the same and you need to know how to sample them correctly by Ken Campbell, Wright Asphalt Products.

12-1 Lunch

1-3 Joint Panel Discussion – This is your opportunity to hear from and ask questions from the people who make the decisions in your region. This is the ideal time to interact with a panel of experts to answer your questions about the Seal Coat Program in your area.
