Join Women of Asphalt Texas in Fort Worth TODAY Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Niece Equipment's Fort Worth location for drinks, food truck cuisine, cornhole, and door prizes. TxDOT Dallas District Engineer Ceason Clemens will deliver opening remarks followed by a brief Q&A session with the National Women of Asphalt Board of Directors and State Leadership. This event is open to all TXAPA and Women of Asphalt Texas members, our TxDOT partners, and your colleagues interested in getting involved with TXAPA and/or Women of Asphalt Texas.

The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA) recently unveiled the Texas Asphalt Pavement Hall of Fame to honor those who have made considerable and lasting contributions to the Texas Asphalt Pavement Industry. Four inductees were honored at the TXAPA Annual Meeitng on Sept. 20, 2023. Join us in congratulating them!

TXAPA honored Dennis Berryhill upon his retirement from TxDOT at the recent Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Following an emotional tribute to the former TxDOT Statewide Seal Coat Coordinator, Berryhill was surprised yet again to recieve the Bob Gallaway Award, the highest recognition for contributions to Seal Coat quality in Texas. Michael Lee with AGC of Texas presented his longtime friend with the award.

The 2023 TXAPA Quality Asphalt Pavement Awards Program recognizes the best-built roadways completed in 2022 and managed by municipalities and private owners. The Awards are presented at the Annual MAPS Conference and comprise six categories—large airport (any project over 15,000 tons), small airport (any project under 15,000 tons), city streets, county roads, parking lots, and specialty projects. Be sure to nominate your projects for an award and spread the word to your city and county customers. Nominations are due Dec. 31, 2023

The Texas Department of Transportation and the HMAC award Quality Control/Quality Assurance Technicians for achieving excellence in performing their assigned duties. A technician from each level of Hot Mix Asphalt Certification (1A, 2, and 1B) and one technician from the Soils and Flexible Bases Certifications (101, 102, 103, 201, and 202) is chosen to receive the award.
