The above-referenced Special Provision has been approved for statewide use and is required for all projects using “Hot-Mix Cold-Laid Asphalt Concrete Pavement,” beginning with the October 2023 letting. However, use of this Special Provision prior to the October 2023 letting is at the District’s option.

• This Special Provision adds a Cantabro test with a maximum limit of 10%.
• This Special Provision also replaces current statewide Special Provision 334-003.

Engineer Asphalt Essentials: Classes are held throughout six sessions, meeting from 9 AM -12 PM CST twice weekly for three weeks. There is no enrollment fee.

Inspector Asphalt Education: Classes are held throughout six sessions, meeting from 8-10:30 AM CST twice weekly for three weeks. There is a $195 enrollment fee.

Summer is synonymous with barbecues, parades, and fireworks. The National Safety Council advises everyone to enjoy fireworks at public displays conducted by professionals and not to use any fireworks at home. They may be legal, but they are not safe.

TxDOT Austin District partnered with the Workforce Rangers to hold a job and internship fair at the Austin District Campus on June 29 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event aimed to help candidates kickstart or continue their careers in the transportation industry. TXAPA, the AGC, TxDOT, and several TXAPA and AGC members positioned at tables in the shade greeted job and internship seekers. Despite the hot weather, attendance was strong, and everyone stayed cool with lots of water and tacos!
