2025 Award Winners

TAGITM recognized the following individuals and projects at the 2025 Annual Conference in April.

TAGITM President’s Award

The President’s Award is presented at the discretion of the President to a member that has made an exemplary and lasting contribution to the organization. For 2024-2025, Shane McDaniel was honored to select Kevin Cameron, City of Allen.

TAGITM Beth Ann Unger Women in Technology Award

The Women in Technology Award honors long time TAGITM member Beth Ann Unger, who passed away in 2023. This award’s purpose is to recognize females within the industry whose mentorship, contributions, and achievements are recognizable by many. This award focuses on those who have mentored the younger generation, and we hope to bring honor to Beth Ann’s memory and let her live on through this award each year. One recipient was awarded this year:

TAGITM Excellence Awards

Excellence Award winners demonstrate outstanding innovation and application of leading-edge computing or communication technologies. Candidates for Excellence Awards are nominated by TAGITM members. Winners are chosen by a committee of peers who judge nominated projects based on their impact on improving internal operations, providing exceptional customer service, or enhancing communications. The following agencies were recognized for their achievements with Excellence Awards:

City of Beaumont, Beaumont PD Real-Time Crime Center
City of Burleson, Resilient Public Safety Communications Program
The Woodlands Township, Mosquito Surveillance GIS App

TAGITM Rising Star Award

The Rising Star Award is presented to a member that has demonstrated the potential for stepping into leadership positions within the organization and the Government Information Technology arena. Nominees are evaluated in the areas of leadership skills and behavior, innovative and effective use of technology, organizational strategy alignment and their ability to manage change. The 2025 award was presented to Jose Mendez, The Town of Flower Mound.

TAGITM Rick Moore Award

The Rick Moore Award is presented to a member of the organization who has demonstrated commitment to the goals and the vision of the organization, dedication to Government Information Technology and service as a mentor to other Government Information Technology professionals. Tony Gonzalez was the recipient of the 2025 award.

TAGITM Industry Partner Award

TAGITM was excited to award an Industry Partner that has displayed exceptional partnership and support to the TAGITM community. This award symbolizes the recipient’s strong commitment to advancing technology solutions to TAGITM members. This year’s Industry Partner Award went to SHI.

TAGITM Emeritus Member Award

Emeritus Membership is for those individuals, typically retired Government Information Technology Leaders, who have demonstrated distinguished service to TAGITM. Nominations for Emeritus Members are reviewed by the Awards Committee and submitted to the TAGITM Executive Board for approval. This year, we have two Emeritus Members to recognize:

Ben Roper
