As I was reading an email from a coworker last week, one sentence stood out. It said, “History is being written before our eyes.” As you might have guessed, the email was about our response to the virus spreading across the globe. That one sentence stuck with me and I’m not entirely sure why. I think it made me realize that what is written about us in the history books is not so much about what happens to us, but more so how we react to it.

The listserv has been flooded with emails about everything from working from home to having Council meetings by videoconference. We have all found ourselves putting projects aside and focusing on the larger issue at hand – keeping our agencies operational and our employees and families safe and healthy. It’s guaranteed that the impact to all of us will become evident as we move toward planning for the next fiscal year.

I know you’ve heard, but in case you haven’t, the 2020 TAGITM Annual Conference that was originally scheduled for the week of April 13th has been canceled. While we are making every effort to have a conference in some form in the coming months, it all depends on many factors. I can’t make any promises, but the Board and CMP are all working our hardest to reschedule, as long as it’s safe. This was an extremely difficult decision to make, but risking the health of our members wasn’t something we were willing to do. More information will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks.

Let’s keep working together and using the listserv to share ideas and get through this as best we can.
