The 86th Legislature passed House Bill (HB) 3834, requiring state and local government employees to annually complete a certified cybersecurity training. Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), in consultation with the Texas Cybersecurity Council, is required to certify the cybersecurity training programs required by this legislation.

The application to submit training programs for certification under HB 3834 is now available. Visit the cybersecurity awareness training certification webpage for details.

To be considered for the initial list of certified training programs, training program applications must be submitted by Friday, October 4. Programs submitted after this date will be assessed on an ongoing basis through the first year.

Local governments that meet the requirements defined in Texas Government Code Section 2054.519(f) can submit an exception form located on the cybersecurity awareness training certification webpage.

For questions about HB 3834 and the certification process, please contact TXTrainingCert@dir.texas.gov.
