At our Texas State Council meeting in Galveston, we held a special working session focused on fulfilling our mission to be the "Voice of the HR professional throughout Texas." As a result, we now have a specific plan to better communicate our brand and to reach the business community as a trusted source of knowledge and expertise in all things HR.

"Background checks cannot report criminal convictions older than seven years."
If this were a post-presidential debate fact-checking post, the claim that background checks cannot include criminal convictions older than seven years would be rated as "mostly false." While still commonly cited, the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act’s limitation on reporting criminal convictions older than seven years was removed from the law in 1996 – almost 20 years ago.

The Austin Human Resource Management Association is proud to partner with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Texas Veterans Commission to promote internship opportunities for veterans currently enrolled in college at a session March 9, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. in Round Rock. AHRMA’s Bob Cartwright and Juanita Baldwin, along with many other volunteers, will be onsite providing motivational speaking, Information about the Mickey Leland Environmental Internship Program, and coaching for those who have proudly served our Country.

Service members, veterans, spouses, and transitioning service members who are currently enrolled in school and have an interest in a paid internship within the Government sector are invited to attend.
